Overview:

Measure A is a special tax levied on all taxable parcels within Marin County. The special tax is $29 per Single-Family Residential parcel, and $26.10 per dwelling unit for Multi-Family Residential parcels. Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial, and Utility parcels are also charged at various rates.

The special tax funds the improvement of the County’s emergency communications and 911 call system, and a reduction in emergency response times.

Exemption Application:

There is no contiguous parcel exemption, as all taxable parcels are charged regardless of the size of the parcel.

To qualify for a low-income senior exemption for the $29 Measure A parcel tax for a single family residence, you must meet all of the following requirements:

  1. You will be 65 years of age or older by December 31 of the tax year; and
  2. You own and occupy your residence located in Marin County; and
  3. Your total annual household income is less than approximately $91,000.
